Hey, remember when I called myself [GSF] for a short time period long after I quit, and nobody objected? I might do that again. This clan is awesome.

I'm out too. All this serious business is just too much for me.

Parena, consider this an early Christmas present to you. Hopefully others will leave until it is just you and the people only you like. Then it will be a REAL clan again.

Love you all (well, almost all but you catch my drift)!

<orange>The funny thing is, if all the people who now quit because of the bylaws had participated in the thread, they'd have had a majority in there and there probably would never have been a voting on the bylaws and there'd be no bylaws at all! </orange>

It's not so much the bylaws, it's more the jack shit happening for like 2 months. And I don't see anything changing. I had been hoping there would be a vote, inactive members would be culled, some people who didn't want to be part of something so serious would leave, and the remaining core would do something worthwhile.

Instead, there was weeks of debating, weeks of nothing, weeks of voting, and then weeks of nothing. And then some IRC politics and other total bullshit I don't give a damn about. No move towards, I don't know, activities. Maybe a clan server or anything. Since I wasn't going to be the one to spearhead something like that, I couldn't see any reason to stay aboard except for the fact that I like almost everyone in the clan. And I can continue to like almost everyone in the clan on the forums and in IRC, so being in the clan seemed useless.

I'm thinking about quitting too. I haven't been on in like 8 months because my COMPUTER's internets is broken and I haven't really had the time anyways. I'm way more loyal to the people who are quitting than the people who are staying, so I may be a sheep and follow their lead...I wish I were on enough so I could know exactly what transpired, maybe somebody could type it up a lot clearer on Grandpa Fishbaugh's (our) website?

Meanwhile, join my new anti-GSF clan, ]Shaboing[. The brackets are like that because the clan is open for all to join.

When has there ever been any change from the above throughout the entire existence of [GSF]? The point of this clan is to exist. That's always been it's point. Anything else has been a temporary extra. And most of the things the clan has done which resembles group activity (such as Tribes2, YARN, Mech Wars, NukeZone and even just plain foruming) have been done largely with others who weren't actually in the clan anyway.

Take Tribes 2. LDL, Ecc, and Sheps would play with [P] and Brit, who weren't clan members.

In YARN, it was pretty much for whoever wanted to play, usually from the forums.

In Mechwars, [GSF] never did well on it's own, but always kicked ass when they included [3DAP], [PBnW] and... anyone else. So they did.

NukeZone was the exact same story.

And foruming - the only reason there is activity on this forum is because of all the people who aren't clan members are still posting here. Even then, the active topics page has the top twenty topics with their most recent replies dating back towards 2 weeks ago.

If anyone joined the clan thinking it's something more than wearing the same tag as your friends, you were gravely mistaken. But I know this very point has been hammered out many times in the past, so I don't see how people could overlook it once again.

I was under the impression that the culling of inactive members was to create an active core who could be more than a loose association of internet personas. I was mistaken.

As soon as I feel that I have all the needed facts, I'll make a post on the site. There is already a story up with some of the details, but I'll freshen it up soon.

So... is the clan being disbanded now, or what? I'm happy to remain a member, but it seems like everyone else is leaving. (That may be an exaggeration, but it's the impression I get from this thread.) Oh well, I guess we can always get some new members... if the new nomination/voting procedures actually get implemented, that is. I'm beginning to wonder if we spent two months or however long it was arguing over all those things for nothing... which, though annoying, would somehow feel appropriate to the nature of the clan.
