Sven Coop is, surprise, a co-op mod, a Half Life mod to be precise. If you've ever thought "Yes, my toilet paper COULD be thicker" or "Yes, playing through the single-player Half Life maps, or ones made specifically for a mod, with other human players on my team would be both enjoyable and interesting" then read on.

Out of all the co-op FPS games I've played (Sven Coop, and Serious Sam on a computer that ran it at about 1 frame per second) Sven Coop is by far my favourite.
I can run a server on my computer, and often do, 4/6 players is generally the maximum I can have before everyone starts lagging really badly, and I have a crap load of plugins and admin mods which all kick serious amounts of ass. And if you see a plugin you want that I don't have, I'll get it.
And for all you Xen "haterz" (or is it hatarz? I can never remember) I have a grappling hook mod. Laugh at jumping puzzles and do your best Spiderman impression.

There are many, many, many custom maps, but it comes with some ready installed. If there are other maps you want you can either download them from the server or I'll send them to you.

What I'd really like to do is get 3 or 4 people together and play through the whole of Half Life. This doesn't have to be all in one session, but I feel that a 6 hour binge must occur at some time in the proceedings.

Which leads me onto another thing. If you're bored of FPS's in general, and wish to try something different, you could do what Panz and I did.

I have a plugin on my server called Fireworks. Surprisingly enough, it adds fireworks to the game. When you type "fireworks (password)" in the console, a firework appears, it looks like the HL RPG ammo canister. When you press use, it fires up in the air, it has a coloured vapour trail, and if you press use again it explodes in a big coloured cloud of slowing down my computer a fuckload.
We discovered that you could spawn more than one firework. One thing led to another, until we made the greatest piece of art ever made in Half Life.

Unfortunately a small screen cap can't capture the majesty of such an event. I was very, very high off the ground, look at the buildings beside me and you can get an idea of how far up I was. The thing was HUGE. Seeing that thing flying up towards you, the sound slowly getting louder and louder until it rushes past you at a thousand miles an hour (actually it's slower) is amazing. And there is no sarcasm involved here, Panz and myself said things along the lines of "Holy fuck shit".

So yeah, get the mod, ICQ me on 34361719, and tell me to start up my damn server or face the threat of death by ninja.

Forgot to mention, I'm going away for a week today, so this isn't my best timed thread ever. But when I get back Svening shall occur.

I'm downloadin Sven right now...What I want to know is are there any absolutely essential maps I should download manually that you run, or what?

Not many, but Defintely get the one with gitfest4 in it( the one in the picutre) Don't know which map pack that its in.

Just install HL too.

And I have a new computer, I could probably run a server with a bunch of people...not sure how good my upload speed is, but my computer rocks...I just won't have all the plug-ins and whatnot, but if we will play a lot I will go to the trouble of setting it all up.

I will run a temp server whenever anybody wants to play and I'm online (whenever Quiz isn't around), so lemme know.

Although Sven-Coop doens't appear to like Steam, although other top-rate mods have no problems with it (The Specialists, NS, Action Half-Life, Firearms, Battle Grounds), so I blame Sven.
