I must say John, I'm quite proud of how much effort you're putting into this. It's great to see someone really try hard at something difficult like this. I'll try to help how I can, but I'm not going to be purchasing UT2k4 for awhile, as I like BF:V more at the moment. But later I will happy

Crotchshot v0.9

Everyone knows the Headshot, now introducing... the Crotchshot!

it's not finished, I'm gonna put in announcer voices for the 1.0 release, as well as the status Crotchmaster on 15 crotchshots.

<red>POSSIBLE BUG</red> I've done some testing of this and it appeared to work fine, however I'm not sure because of the way I had to code it. basically I'm not sure if it really knows if you hit the crotch area. If you find you hit a character somewhere that is NOT the crotch area (you have to be sure of this), please tell me, and make sure you know where you did hit the model.

Update: working on v1.0. I've gotten the cotchshot!! announcer by Pippinz (\o/), but I'm still having trouble adding the Crotchhunter/Crotchmaster messages/awards.

(for those interested, I basically need a way to add an integer variable to the PlayerReplicateInfo, if you have an idea how, please tell)

I might post a 0.9b version for you guys with the crotchshot announcer. grin

Crotchshot v1.0

Although not quite as complete as I want it to be it's now pretty finished.

Changelog:
- Added announcervoice for Crotchshot, Crotch Hunter and Crotch Master (THANK YOU PIPPINZ, YOU RULE!)
- Added the possibility to become Crotch Hunter and Crotch Master, at 10 and 20 Crotchshots

Now I really need you guys to use this mutator, even if it's just to test it, since there are a few things I want to straighten out:

1) Is the announcer voice loud enough? if you think it isnt as loud as the other (which is the case, but I need to know if it has to change) please post about it here.

2) an 'issue' I've noticed because of the way I check for crotchshots is that sometimes you dont get a crotchshot even if you seem to hit the crotch. now I want a crotchshot to be about as rare as a headshot, and reaching Crotch Master should be a real feat. However I dont want it to be impossible. now I can adjust the radius in which it thinks crotchshots can take place, so if you feel that it really is too hard post here.

Also if any of you modellers can point me to a bone or joint, present in ALL skeletons that's closer to the crotch then what I currently use ('spine'), please tell.

I really need feedback on this people!

That was lots of fun, I only got two crotchshots though, it's much harder to hit the crotch, in comparison to the head.

do you think it should be made a little easier? I believe it's perry easy (I just change DamTypeCrotchshot.default.CrotchshotRadius from 8.00 to 16.00 or something =D)

also, what do you think about the announcer, should it be louder?

I give you, the very first GSF UT2004 Mutator:
Xtreme ShieldGun Mutator v0.1

Makes vehicles FLY!



It does that. Also works a bit like a really powerful portable jumppad happy

Not exactly a technical update, but I just thought I'd show you all this little screenshot. I did it using my ShieldGun (though I increased the power a little more first).

What about modding one of the vehicles (I would guess the manta as it can already jump) into a hoverboard type model? You could get on and the camera would zoom out to show you standing on the board.

You could either use your own weapons or something akin to the manta's firing rate (or both). The main advantage would probably be it's speed, and that you could probably use it in fairly small environments.

As far as I can tell from my limited modding experiance on other games the physics would be the main problem - making it so the game would recognise that it was only a thin strip and would therefore let you zoom through doorways or something like it.

This is just speculation, I certainly won't (can't) do it myself.

well, a custom vehicle is one of the first things I want to make once I get UT2k4. DAMNIT I WANT THAT GAME!!!

the thing is, I'd need a Mesh of the vehicle and I cant make it. but others can.

*looks with puppy eyes at doc and [P]*

hmz I can see it now. a vehicle where you keep using the weapons you have. yes. we shall attempt this.

I checked out the vehicles a bit yesterday (wanted to replace the Manta's primary weapon), but unfortunately there's pretty much no documentation for vehicles at this time, making it quite hard to figure out, since it works completely different from non-vehicle stuff (this one thing was documented).

But keep the ideas coming happy

Alright, Xtreme ShieldGun v0.5 is complete.

A configuration screen has been added which allows you to modify the force and damage sliders.

Setting force low and damage high allows you to destroy pretty much everything in one hit, but doesn't make anything fly, while setting force high and damage low makes all vehicles fly, including the enemy ones. Setting both high makes your own vehicles fly and destroys the enemy ones. You get the idea. Fool around with it.

Personally like it best at the standard setting (force somewhere in the middle, damage not too high), but not having the ShieldGun do any damage but with more than enough force is great fun when your attackers who get just a little too close.

Now I'll just have to do something about the fall damage.

I think setting Pawn.MaxFallSpeed (float) really high will fix it.

Anyway, it turns out my last version didn't work right in multiplayer, so I fixed it now.
