OSS Tradewars Knockoff 2/10/05 5:03am
Any of you other oldtimers remember Tradewars from your 1200 baud modem BBS days? It was my favorite door game from back then... spent way too much of my youth trying to dial in to the Pee Dee Exchange BBS right at midnight so I'd be the first to take my turns that day so I could visit death upon my virtual enemies happy

I found an open source knockoff of the game that's been adapted to the web with PHP. Installed it last night, and it looks pretty neat. It's missing some stuff, and some stuff had to change because someone still holds the license to the original, but it looks like it might be fun. With enough people playing to actually encounter each other and fight, it could be hellacious fun.

Anybody interested in this, or is it just me showing my age?

In all seriousness, I just wanted to guage interest before I opened the game up, see if anybody thought it might be fun. Thought it might be something fun to do with the clan, but haven't done my homework yet to make sure I won't get bitchslapped with a "no advertising your site, you deliciously twisted monkey" moderation.

Speaking of which, what's the word on that, you various and modly types? It's just a game I can host. Am I kosher?

Nope, just need a browser. Not even a good browser, you can use IE if you want to happy
