Yes and no. They (Obsidian) seem to be as dedicated to make the game really work as Bioware were. I don't think that it's a making-a-fast-buck thing. Most, if not all, of the pressing issues that were reported during the MP Beta test I was in were fixed. Unfortunately, this particular bug is a rare-occurance once.

I dunno. I really don't mind playing at 800x600 with shadows turned off. It reminds me of the good old Baldurs Gate II days. I know that the game actually performs ok (15-30 fps) when running on Windows XP, but I'm currently using Vista (don't ask) and NVidia's drivers are simply horrible at the moment. Either way, I have a NVidia 6600 chipset and a 2.6 GHZ processor. Seems to run fine, and if it doesn't, you can always turn down the settings.

You could wait until NWN2 has matured (and maybe even has an expansion pack out). It's a must-play tbh, especially if you liked NWN1, but it's not a must-play-right-now thing. Let it mature, like wine.
