In Sorte Diaboli by Dimmu Borgir
Ocean Machine by Devin Townsend (a nice departure from Strapping Young Lad, actually, the music is a lot more... expressive (if that's a word) which is nice)
In Rainbows by Radiohead
No Sleep 'til Belfast by Stiff Little Fingers (pretty good for a punk live album)

Got it yesterday after a friend played me the song My Friend Fats while I was at work Friday, and it made the hairs on my neck stand up it was so good.

Primus is one of those bands I used to love (saw them twice in concert), but kinda fell out of after the underwhelming Antipop album.

This one is the original lineup but sounds "newer" and just as good as their old stuff IMO.

Portishead - Third
4/5

I highly recommend this album. I docked a mark because I don't think it is consistant enough, but perhaps the other tracks are growers.

I think Pitchfolk got it right when they said Portishead were a band you didn't think you needed to listen to again. I listened to there old albums again a few months ago and seemed very dated to me and I wasn't looking forward to this release, but after hearing the opening track of Third at a mates house (which sounds like something straight out of Mortal Kombat) I bought it and I'm thoroughly impressed. Probably the highlight for me is Machine Gun but there are other stunning tracks.

Buy it fellas you are unlikely to be dissapointed.

Got the Hold Steady albums I was missing; Almost Killed Me and Separation Sunday. Both of them are excellent though Boys and Girls in America is probably still my favourite.

Also got Islands new album Arm's Way. It has got some fairly negative reviews which I feel are partially justified. In my opinion the album is great for the first 6 tracks or so and builds on what I enjoyed about their debut. However in the latter half of the album they seem to have got a bit self indulgent and carried away. While the longer songs on Return to Sea all held my interest from beginning to end this isn't the case with Arm's Way. While there's something to admire in each song a few tracks towards the end like Life in Jail just seem to drag unnecessarily. This leaves the album decent rather than the great album it could so easily have been.
