Does anyone play this? I just joined, and spent the evening in a jazz club getting chatted up by young Spaniards. While that was quite a novelty, I think I might be missing something.

Doesn't appeal to me really. I've got one life already - why get greedy?

Isn't the "Second Life" considered like some online chat such as IMVU or something like that. I know it has to do where you have some player/person thing and you can choose how you look and then its just like you chat and crap.

The code in Second Life was just too poorly optimized for me to play in my pathetic Malaysian line.

Otherwise, I'd actively seek out some of my own kind to...uh..."establish good working ties".

On a more serious side, I honestly get more enjoyment chatting on forums than I do in SL. SL is clunky, the controls felt unresponsive and, really - I never found much of interest for me there. Maybe if I could get one of those custom furry avatars...

Haven't tried it but know what it is. And Seen a lot of companies are trying to sell their product through it (with the blessing of the game).

Just a bloated user interface for a chat really. Not really interested in discussing what kind of virtual pants I am wearing so the concept is worthless to me.

The website www.somethingawful.com (NOT WORK SAFE! Although not X-rated or anything) had some pretty damn funny "safaris" through Second Life, exposing the perverted and messed-up "underbelly" of the "game" (if it can actually be classified as a game).

I won't directly link, but if you go there and search articles with the "safari" in the title, I know you can find at least one of the articles I'm talking about. Again, not work safe, and not for the easily offended.

It is the frank & cynical recognition of the inevitable limitations of people in general which makes me absolutely indifferent instead of actively hostile toward mankind.

Yep, the only time I would consider playing this "game" would be with a bunch of goons from SA, I believe they have their own island but I'm not sure how active they are anymore.

There's a few videos they made that were hilarious, one of them involved a guy running around with a Free Hugs sign.
