The only DOS game I remember having is Warcraft 1. I still have it but have not played it for years. Too bad, because I never finished it.

What about you guys?

Now? No, I don't know if they would even work in Vista.

But over the years I have enjoyed dozens, if not hundreds of DOS games.

Sam and Max Hit The Road, Day of the Tentacle and Doom, all on DS.

I've got Day of the Tentacle, the early Monkey Islands, Sam and Max Hit the Road all nicely running on an emulator. I used to have the original Little Big Adventure and a couple of random platformers but I think I've deleted them by now.

Haven't really played any of them for a while though.

However when I do eventually get a PC with Vista I'm going to make a point of keeping a partition with XP installed for running old games, my friend said he couldn't even run many Windows games like AvP 2 so I guess there's little hope for those or DOS unless I keep a version of XP around.

You need an emulator to run them on XP? Warcraft just runs by itself.

I will try it on Vista. But I have been on XP for weeks now. I like Vista better, but all my stuff is on XP and I don't want to bring it on Vista because it will pile it with crap like it did to XP. Nice little paradox there.

I've certainly needed one for all the old adventure games. I guess some things would run without one - compatibility is pretty hit and miss; though mostly everything works eventually.

Except for Outcast (which is actually a Windows game) where the screen goes off to the right and down a bit so you can't see half of it and there's no apparent way to fix it. If someone ever found out a way and told me I'd definitely owe them a good old GSPC cookie!

HAHA! Yes I have played DOS games recently actually. In Computer Programming Class, I was just messing around so I downloaded a game made in QuickBasic and just started playing.

Just recently I was playing the DOS version of Syndicate. I had to use the Dos Box emulator to get it working, but once I figured it out, it has worked wonderfully.

I also managed to get my old copy of Budokan working. I sadly can't remember the controls nor find the manual, though.

Note: I am running all of this on Vista.

I used to play a bit of Death Rally back when we still had an old PC running Windows 98 out the back. With that literally gutted (and a new PC in its place) I haven't really bothered trying to get any DOS games to run anymore. A few years ago I was obsessed with them though.

He posted in 22 places before I got him this time (yes, I have banned an account spamming that site before).

Unfortunately most of his posts are outside my areas of effectiveness.

And then I find another user with 49 more spam posts...

I still have a bunch of DOS games, back at my parent's house. Descent, Jazz The Jackrabbit, Terminal Velocity, etc. but I haven't run them since the 2000 update.
