Holy shit, I just bought the Metal Gear Solid PS3 Bundle. As I thought, I had to hear some shit from my wife about it, but I took a very aggressive stance and backed her off into a corner for now. I'm sure I'll pay for this some how come down the road, but victory is mine. I also got Resistance, since I like the FPS and all. I'll get Uncharted soon, no doubt. What other really good PS3 exclusive titles are there?

No to find some nice Blu-Ray movies. I hear Casino Royale looks really nice.

Welcome aboard matey!

That's the way to do it. The kitchen and the bedroom, that's the only place for a woman if you ask me (notice how tough I talk on this board where the female population is .2 percent of the male population).
I'm sure I'll pay for this some how come down the road, but victory is mine.
I'm in the same boat, my gf still doesn't know about the 46 inch LCD TV and $300 steering wheel package I've recently got (we have a long distance relationship so it makes it easy to keep her out of the loop until she eventually visits)
I also got Resistance, since I like the FPS and all. I'll get Uncharted soon, no doubt. What other really good PS3 exclusive titles are there?

MGS4 alone should keep you busy for a good while. My buddy beat it right after it came out, but he was playing for about 3 days almost nonstop. I've been playing bits and pieces as my schedule allows and it's taking a long time, but I'm savoring the flavor.

I hope you like Resistance, it wasn't my cup of tea though (not that I've ever played the online-- I just don't like FPS's that are too alieny)

I'm pretty sure you'll like Uncharted, especially if you can appreciate a slick videogame that feels like a movie kind of experience.

Other games you should consider:

-Warhawk (only if you don't mind third person shooting and online only-- it's really really fun)
-Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction
-GT5 Prologue (only if you like simmy racing games)
-Singstar (if you like karaoke, and even if you don't, maybe your wife will, maybe you can win her over again)
-MLB 08 the Show (only if you like baseball, which you don't strike me as the sports guy type)

And don't forget to download Twisted Metal 2 on PSN!

And to respond to a previous post of yours (in response to my post about PS1 PSN games)
I think they have all three Crash Bandicoots - Well, I'm not sure if I care, how did stack up next to Mario?
I've only played a little of parts 1 and 2, but I played all of part 3 (Crash Bandicoot Warped, I think it's called), and IMO (keep in mind it's been a while) it stacks up to Mario very well. Crash 3 was really the zenith of the series for me. I actually preferred it to the 3D Marios, but not so much the 2D Marios (which remain some of my faves). But it's a really polished game with a lot of replay value and different gameplay elements (ie. you can run around a jump like all platformers, do attacks, some stages have you flying a plane, some have you riding a jetski or something [with really impressive water effects for the time], at one point you ride a tiger, ect)

I liked Resistance, and the sequel (which looks improved in pretty much every way) is due before the end of the year, which is good.

As for other exclusives, I enjoyed Motorstorm quite a bit, but some other people I've talked to don't seem to share my enthusiasm for it. I'd say rent that one sometime soon and check it out. The biggest problems I have with it are the very slow model loading times during vehicle select, and the total lack of two-player splitscreen. Its sequel is also due by year-end BTW.

For good, fun, mindless gameplay, I really like Everyday Shooter off the PSN. $10 bucks was totally worth it IMHO. Pain is more iffy. Kind of a fun time waster, but pretty limited in the end. I hear a sizeable expansion is incoming for it though, and as long as it's free, that would up the value of the game quite a bit.

BTW, what's your PSN ID? I'm Fett's Vette.

And I'm Vultureguy33

I also think Motorstorm is a great game but at this point I'd just wait for the sequel.

I was looking at the games and I was thinking about Motorstorm, but if a sequel is do out then I should wait for that. So, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, and Heavenly Sword are pretty certain near-ish future purchases. I really thought the PS3 had more exclusives titles, though. I guess with Haze sucking the list of titles I'd get got smaller. Well, here's looking for Shadow of the Colossus, Killzone, God of War, and Little Big Planet.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift will have 4-player splitscreen which would be nice when you have friends over.

Warhawk is cool, but not everybody gets into it. I have to admit, it was the second game I bought for my PS3, but it's probably the one I've played the least. It all depends on the match you find. If you get a game where you can compete, it's a blast. If you're just getting schooled the whole time as soon as you spawn, then it gets old really, really fast.

That said, I should probably pop it back in now that I've beaten all the PS3 games I currently own (well aside from beating every single race in Motorstorm and GT 5: Prologue).

Have you tried this in Warhawk:

- 2 player spit screen online team deathmatch? Just get a friend over, search for a team deathmatch (or CTF) with an odd number of players already playing (because this way you can switch teams if you or your friend begin on opposite teams).

The advantage of having a friend on your team sitting right next to you is better strategy and communication which in my experience translates into a much more fun experience.

I'm not much for the online play, and when my friends come over they never play video games anymore, so Warhawks and games like that are of no interest.

Doesn't matter, though, Metal Gear 4 is awesome!

A caveat if you plan on buying Heavenly Sword: It's repetitive hack-n-slash fair, and not much else. I'm holding out on getting MGS4, mainly because the last MGS game I played was MGS2, and quite frankly Raiden pissed me off; what an androgynous wuss!

It's sooo much better than 2 though. Just sayin.

Yeah, for me nothing could top the original... till now. Nowhere near finishing it, but it's the best I'd say. Also, check out the Snake Eaters on PS2, I thought it was excellent as well. 2 is just a joke. It started off well enough, then turned to crap. Raiden and the story were just a huge mess, really.

I didn't know you could do that. My one friend who comes over to play PS3 with me did sorta enjoy Warhawk the couple times we played it, this might be pretty sweet if he and I got a team game going on the same side. Next time he comes over I'll give this a try. Plus we have the new, free veteran maps for Army of Two to play through.

Just so you know, there's no special "2 player" option to pick. Just start like you're starting a normal single player game and then have your friend press start on controller 2 and boom-- the game should go straight to split screen (unless the room is too full or the host disallows it).

Warhawk also supports 4 player split screen online, and it works the same way.

I knew you could play up to four-player split-screen, but I didn't know you could go online like that. That is pretty sweet. It may give new life to a game that hasn't gotten much play from me.

I know my friend and I enjoyed playing Army of Two together, so I'm thinking he would probably like this, and since there's no "end" to it, we might wind up playing it a lot longer than we did Army of Two.

I'm telling you, playing 2 player split screen online in Warhawk really is a blast. I prefer it to having my own full screen and playing with the same friend over the internet. I can't say that about all games (ie R6V-- where I'd rather have the full screen all to myself and play with my friends long distance).

With the split screen in Warhawk, there's no loss in framerate or graphic quality whatsoever (that I can tell). And it's easier to find your friend so the two of you can team up to be double trouble. And when you're ready let me know and I can join you guys (over the net of course, unless you live in Chicago and want to hang out). Although, having not played Warhawk since I replaced my PS3, you'll have to give me a heads up and/or allow me some time to do installs and updates.
