I just watched two new trailers and thought maybe we could start a thread for sweet ass movie trailers. I know these things tend to fizzle out quickly, but what the hell...

New CG Clone Wars
http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/starwarstheclonewars/trailer1/

and

Burn After Reading
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE3TlKzItL8

Link and discuss.

That looks so awesome!

And if someone wants to start a new movie trailer topic every year, we'll just put the year after the topic title or something when we cross that bridge next year wink

Sweet idea, but I'm pretty heavy into movie trailers as it is. I have the apple trailers page (http://www.apple.com/trailers/ ) as my homepage so I don't miss anything, when I saw your thread title my first thought was Burn After Reading because I hadn't heard anything about it until it popped up on that site last time I logged in.

Oh, and I finally watched that Clone Wars trailer. Visually looks like it was produced on a video game engine. I was expecting better.

Dear Everyone,
Stop doing stuff with Star Wars, you just make it suck more and more every time you try to add on to it. If you must, follow the Knights of the Old Republic idea and make it WAY before the birth of any character that's in the original trilogy, thank you.

For some reason, Quicktime hates Firefox on my computer. Anytime I try to visit a Quicktime trailer or anything it crashes on me. I had to look up the Gonzo trailer on YouTube and it definitely looks pretty interesting.

I've read Fear and Loathing, Hell's Angels and Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail and thoroughly enjoyed them all. And of course I've seen the Fear and Loathing movie multiple times.

Will it bump?

Anyhow, for fans of Chuck Palahniuk (or people who at least enjoyed Fight Club), here's the trailer for his newest book-turned-movie:

Choke
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/choke/trailer/

and here's some flame-baiting by the old pro, Bill Maher:

Religulous
http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/religulous/trailer_large.html

and although it's not much to go on, this upcoming Frank Miller/Will Eisner collaboration definitely looks interesting:

The Spirit
http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/thespirit/large.html

BTW, updating Quicktime seems to have fixed my Firefox trailer viewing problems miraculously.

For the first time in my life, I actually want to see a Will Smith movie:

Hancock

This shit looks pretty funny, and the special effects look very good. That's really all I'm hoping for. Plus it's got Jason Bateman, who I like in just about everything he's ever done, film-wise.

i think hancock is going to fail, i just see zero potential in that movie

but i said the same about pursuit of happyness, and it did alright (will smiths a cool guy, i just sometimes am disgusted by his choice of contract)

looking forward to Religulous (a lot)

+Bangkok Dangerous, + the new movie w/ DeNiro and Pacino... which I also think will fail in terms of reviews, but I'll be seeing anyway b/c I have a real good feeling these guys will not be living too much longer........................

I don't know, I've seen the trailer in front of quite a few different friends of mine, who have varying tastes in movies, and pretty much all of them have commented that the movie looks pretty cool.

It may wind up sucking ass, but I think it will do well in the theater. Just a hunch based on personal anecdotal evidence.

I also think Righteous Kill should be pretty good, judging from the trailer.

Another one that recently caught my eye was Mongol. I watched the trailer like a week ago, and then last night I happened to catch Roeper's review of it on At The Movies, and he really dug it too. If it doesn't hit the theater around here, I'll definitely rent this when it comes out on blu-ray.

However, the next movie I am definitely seeing when it comes to the theater is Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.

I don't know much about the comic this is based off of, but I think they're going down the Sin City path too much here and it will end up just seeming like a Sin City clone AND will end up hurting Sin City II because it won't seem as special any more.

Terminator teaser trailer.

I have zero hopes for this movie even though bale is playing john connor. But this teaser is pretty damn good. I like the style of it.

New Spirit Trailer. Not a big fan of it compared to the teaser. I am kind of worried about the movie now.

hellride - Red Band Trailer

Looks like a typical Quentin movie.

I find Eva Mendes to be repulsive, too bad she's in this movie.

Okay, I was having problems viewing the Terminator teaser (maybe because I was still DL'ing the Dragon Age HD gameplay vid), but I did watch the Spirit and Hell Ride trailers.

I actually liked the Spirit one. It does look like visually, it will be more than just a copy of the Sin City style, and although it looks very over-the-top, it still looked good in my opinion. I have a lot of faith in Frank Miller to write a good, pulpy-noir story and mate it up with some sweet, sweet eye candy...both stylistically and in choice of the ample hotties that seem liberally strewn throughout this movie. I'll definitely see this one when it comes out, just based on my appreciation for Miller.

Hell Ride...I'd say the biggest surprise was when at the end it said "written and directed by some guy who's not Quentin Tarantino" Watching the trailer, I was absolutely convinced it was him. I'm also a sucker for Tarantino movies, and although this isn't actually one of his movies, the trailer had Vinny Jones playing what looked like a complete badass (typecasting FTW), and Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda. I'm sold.

BTW, isn't Tarantino working on a WWII movie called The Inglorious Bastards as his next flick?

*ADDED*
Okay, I just watched the Terminator teaser.

Meh. I lost interest in this franchise after T2. Never even saw T3. Unless I see some amazing footage coming out for this one, it stays on my "not interested" list. As far as style, I really saw no evidence of anything other than "generic action movie" style. Nothing to differentiate itself from all the other Hollywood crap, stylistically.
