I'm not sure if it is hardware, software, drivers or whatnot. When I game, it doesn't really matter how new or old the game is, after a time of playing my computer will start crapping out on me. The graphics will split into two layers, movement will become impossible, the game will essentially freeze, and the last sound that I heard will repeat for a few seconds and then stop as well. anyone know what might be the problem here?

These are my PC specs:

A shot in the dark here. But it might be your SLI acting up. I can only say delete your drivers, and reinstall Nvidia certified ones. The only time I had a issue like this was when I had Windows ME, and that was solely ME's fault.

I'm having a PC issue of my own, XP won't start if I plug it in to my brand new HDTV. Later I'll replug it into the old monitor and see if it is only just the an incompatibility or maybe my PC is sick. With this nonsense and with what the PS3 can do, I think I will be going MAC for my next computer after all. There's really no PC exclusive games anymore that I care enough about to really change my mind.

So the problem only crops up when you're playing a game? Surfing the net and everything else is fine?

If that's the case, I would definitely suspect either your videocard hardware or drivers, or possibly directX. If you were playing an old game, make sure directX didn't install an older copy over top of your current version for some stupid reason.

Other than that, you could uninstall your video card drivers and run drivercleaner before reinstalling fresh ones off Nvidia's website just to make sure no .dll file or anything is corrupt. They can get left behind even if you uninstall. Drivercleaner gets everything out so your reinstall should be fresh and uncorrupted.

It has happened with Stalker, Crysis, Orange Box games, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The first three, I thought it was just because they were newer games and prone to breaking computers. But Vice City... That ran like a charm on my old PC. I shouldn't be getting this type of problem with it.

If it were game-specific, I would think shitty resource allocation programming *cough* Unreal II *cough*. But since it's every game, it's most likely bad drivers. Reinstall your video card drivers.

What was the last major program you installed on your computer before this problem?

I know what I'm doing, but I have no idea what's going on.

Been like this since I got it back in April.

and I did install the latest Nvidia drivers the first day, right after getting it on the internet. That was the first thing that I did. I will gladly remove all drivers and try again if you think it will help though.

I would recommend uninstalling the drivers, then running drivercleaner (it's free, look it up) and then downloading the newest Nvidia drivers afresh from their website and reinstalling them.

Some parts of drivers remain behind even after you uninstall, to be used by whatever new drivers you install. If it's one of those remaining parts that's the problem, uninstalling and reinstalling won't fix the problem.

Drivercleaner gets all that crap out so that you really have a fresh install.
