A free program that monitors my CPU temperature, to be more specific. My laptop has been undergoing periodic slowdowns over the past month that seem to happen when I've played a too many videos at once, or played a game in combination with AIM's video chat. It's summer time, and the heat has been driving me nuts, so I figure it's driving my computer nuts too, since it takes about half an hour of multitasking for the slowdown to start.

Any programs or advice in general?

Go to download.com and search for hardware monitor, you will see several that will do what you want. From a quick glance through the options Speedfan and Everest Ultimate Edition seem to be good choices.
