Yeah I gave the incognito mode a trial the other night.

Simple solution to having the pron bookmarks show up along the right side of the "homepage" was to just delete a couple recent ones and bookmark a few more innocent sites in Chrome. I like having all my favorites show up as thumbnails on the start page...I just didn't like having my favorite XVideos bookmarks show up along the side there.

Apparently, according to my Adv. Computer Diagnostics prof, there is a problem with the EULA on Chrome that basically says anything you create with it belongs to Google, such as blogs and stuff. TBH, I didn't read the EULA, so I didn't notice that tidbit, but I'm not blogging or creating anything other than the odd GS forum post, so it's inconsequential to me. For him it was a deal-breaker though.

I also wonder how or if it will update. Will we be notified of new versions, or will Chrome automatically check for and prompt download of updates? I looked through the options and didn't see anything about updating in there.

They changed that. Source: http://blogs.computerworld.com/chrome_privacy

I love the minimalistic style, but I did go back to using Firefox already.

I've been trying to alternate back and forth for the last few days between Chrome and Firefox3. Used Chrome pretty much all day today.

It handled the Apple movie trailers page very well. I kinda like the way the Quicktime trailers are done, the screen greys out and the trailer plays in its own little window...just kinda stylish.

However, the GSF-recommended Darkroastedblend.com just does not ever load up for me on Chrome, and for some reason it refuses to put My Yahoo into one of the windows on the startup page, instead just putting the default Yahoo homepage, even though it shows me as logged in. Having to click the My Yahoo button once arriving at the page kind of defeats the purpose of the window on the startpage.

I've also noticed some other video sites that just seem to take forever to load, but on the whole, most everything I usually visit works reasonably well on it. I do like the minimalist approach too...but I'd like a bit more customizability to get things just how I like them. It's actually a bit surprising how little control the user has over how it looks TBH.

Not that anyone who can't use google to find it should be allowed to use it...

I was wondering how Chrome updated itself. It didn't seem to be doing it automatically, because I'd never seen any "A new version of Chrome is available, would you like to download and install?" windows popping up since I'd been using it. There also didn't seem to be anything in the options about checking for newer versions.

Finally a couple days ago I decided to check which version I was using, figuring I'd then go and start a new download and look to see what version you currently get from Google.

Lo and behold, at the bottom of the "About Chrome" window, I noticed it said, "Checking for updates..." after a few minutes a new update was found and I was prompted to install it.

Seems like kind of a dumb place to put the update function, especially considering the program is in beta, and by its nature will likely need and receive numerous updates. You'd think it would be set to auto-update, or at the very least have an update heading in the options menu.

The grey out and little window is apple's webpage, not chrome. It does this in IE7 and has done for about a month or so.

Shows how much I use IE. I didn't remember it doing that in Firefox, but maybe it does too then.

Also found out that Chrome automatically updates itself whenever a new version is available. When I saw the "searching for updates" thing on the "about Chrome" tab, I just happened to look at the same time it was automatically updating. Me opening the "about" tab didn't actually trigger the update, I just happened to look right after firing up the browser and caught it in the act. Normally you never see the update function.

Kinda odd still. You'd think they'd tell you when you'd downloaded a newer version, as well as linking you to a list of fixes/bugs/etc.

Late post I know but nonetheless it still looks like a nice web browser just needs a few bugs fixed as has been said.

I believe the Chrome web browser is going to be used as the web browser for a new cell phone that is being made I remember reading it somewhere on Digg

Double Agreed, I'm happy with Firefox 2.0 (didn't upgrade to 3 because most of my Extensions aren't supported)
