I carry a pocket knife, it's just got one blade, I use it to open boxes at work.

And stab people in the nostril.

Wow, that's pretty sweet (despite the name Squirt). How do those pliers hold up? Are they strong or does it feel like the handles are going to bust when you have to really use it?

The cutting part has kinda worn down (its supposed to be a wire cutter, turns out not so much), but the pliers themselves still work and feel pretty good, which is excellent considering it's about 6 years old.

We were talking about guns and knives at work on Friday (as you do)

Mainly discussing our childhood, when pretend guns were ok, and all boys had knives. It was cool, they pretended to shoot people, and sharpened sticks with the knives.

Now, pretend guns are banned. knives are banned... and knife crime through the roof, gun crime through the roof..

Let little boys play I say.

Couldn't agree with you more. When I was a kid my father carved us simple guns out of wood, but at the same time, he taught us respect for real weapons by treating the play guns as real. He wouldn't let us point them directly at each other. He said if caught us doing that he'd take them away. You never know when your gun might be loaded.

There's a piece in Dennis Leary's Why We Suck about how his neighbor's kid wanted this really cool fake gun, but his parents were yuppie freaks and got him a balsa wood kit instead. What happened? The neighbor's kid carved himself the best damn fake gun you could make out of balsa wood.

I do, every day. 2, actually, a little Spyderco Dragonfly (for most everything) and a Spyderco Tenacious (for the big stuff, plus I just love that knife). I also carry a cruddy Gerber Suspension multitool. I need a small Leatherman to replace it, as the suspension is just too bulky and heavy. And cruddy.

I used to for years, but eventually it broke and I haven't replaced it. Also, it always wore a hole in my jeans where it rested in my pocket.

I prefer a Leatherman multitool over a straight up pocket knife.
