Buddy Holly's glasses, however, were the precurse to modern EMO lead singer glasses.

His songs are rock with a political edge. his site is <strike>here</strike> Wrong MAtthew Good*. This is the musician Matthew Good's site.

You don't need to be canadian to like Matt Good, nor do all Canadians have to like Matt Good.

But you must admit: he's better than any other west coast musicians (example: Nickelback). And his music has more heart than east coast canadian rock (example: Sloan-who I do like). And his lyrics are better than Sam Roberts (who's from Quebec). But that being said: Rush &gt; Matt Good.

And talking about coasts and music makes me feel like a rap fan. Time to take a shower...

I'm not even clear on what constitutes emo music...but a lot of what I have heard that apparently fits the genre I've nothing short of despised.

It's a tough genre to classify.

We already established that EMO is EMOtional Punk. Generally it's like punk music but sadder ([most] punk is angry, emo is sad punk, ska is happy punk with reggae elements).
The odd thing is many non-EMO bands have EMO songs. While Weezer is not EMO, the song "Say It Ain't So" is typically classified as EMO. Same goes for Radiohead and their song "Creep."

In short: no one really knows for sure except the angsty lonely 13 year old girls who put fansite after fansite up on the internet for Dashboard Confessionals (apparently they are to EM what Radiohead is to art rock. I wouldn't know.).
