I think that's an action figure.

Also:

Yes, you will see more of these two. Much more.

You would be correct sir. It is an action figure, and it looks mighty sexy sitting between Beanie Cthulu and Nick Fury.

Finialy got back to the model. Legs mostly done, hips on the way, though i might have to re-rig for animation. Torso has been roughed out (thinking of ideas for detail). Just started working on an arm while i think of the torso problem.

Hit around 300 thou polys at 2x sub-d and 4 million at render.

What's it like working with sub-Ds? Aside from the fact that I only have an incredibly vague idea of what they are.

"Sub-D", as in sub-division, just basically means 'smoothing'. You sub-divide, the model becomes more complex, surfaces become more gradual. This means that you just work on an economized model with emphasis and weighting at more defined edges, and smooth it afterwards. One of the easiest ways to model, and one of the best for organics.

Yup yup yup

Though, unless im working for game models Sub-d is good for everything.... except viewport performance...

Ive turned on sub-d viewport rendering here so you can actually see the extra geometry thats added and where.

Poly Hull (zero sub divisions) ~1000 polys

Level one sub-d ~4800 polys

Level two sub-d (I like to work at this level, as it gives a great indication of what your final render will be like without making your PC blow up.) ~20,000 polys

Level four sub-d (Final render quality) ~300,000 polys

Two models I'm making because I can. The one on the top (Stitchfreak) is very goddamned close to being finished and painted, and the one on the bottom (Barmaid) is barely started.

Stitchfreak looks fucking awesome, but resembles a dildo a little too much.

Holy shit! Did I just update?

I plan on doing one piece of artwork a night. Was bored of paper and pencil and wanted to try something new. Decided some practice with my Wacom tablet was due, so went with it grin
