Fuck you, Benny. You're just mad that I have a higher netsplit score than you.

Okay, so exactly which server should I be trying to connect to?

(Sorry for the long absence and the non-existence on IRC - the last semester of classes have been a royal beeyatch...)

Perhaps we can all make a decision before deciding to tell everyone where to go, BBH. As DF said, don't be hasty. We want to find the best alternative since we don't want to have to move again later on. Stay in AustNet for now, since yes, it does work.

You know what we should do? Whenever someone can't join X server, we should move the #gsf channel. I mean, with the amount of IRC servers out there, there's got to be enough for us to do that. It would be great. A new IRC server every day! Why wait three months and only go for a partial change? Fuck that, move whenever someone cracks the shits!

Or, we could, as always, just whine and bitch for another two pages, before everybody returns to austnet, half of the people get the "I told you so" attitude, and then we whine and bitch on until the end of all time.

It's not like it matters to me, I get shitty connections to ALL IRC servers.

I don't think you get how bad austnet is. Many people routinely have difficulty connecting, and it's absurd to deal with such a shitty server when we can move.

So basically we're still at Austnet until there is a general consensus of which server to move to?

(Classes started in January and if I haven't been at class, I'm at my internship, or I'm busting my ass studying... Why does the last semester have to suck so much?)

I've got a couple of points to add:

- We haven't moved yet. Austnet is still the channel.

- People are getting sick of all the netsplits and connection problems.

- Before we move are to move anywhere, we need to make sure that at least every regular in #gsf can visit the new server.

- Last few times people wanted to move, it was backed by only like, half the people and that didn't include any of the current (co)owners. Never supported a move myself anyway. This time, however, I do support a move.

However, moving isn't just a matter of selecting a random server and going there. The server should be fast, stable, allow everybody to connect (which are three things Austnet's currently lacking) and it should provide proper services as well, in order to prevent abuse (Austnet's damn good for this).

So far, freenode seems to be a good alternative. Being primarily fast and stable, while still providing quality services. It definate gets my vote for now, but nothing's been decided yet and I can still change my mind.

Oh, and Hardflip, freenode is better than GameSurge, so don't bother trying to convince me otherwise. And another thing, GameSurge originated out of the old GamesNET yes, BUT GamesNET relaunched March 1st 2004.

The new GamesNET might be an even better alternative than freenode (I took the liberty of setting up a channel just in case). It's fast and stable now, but since it hasn't even been online for a month, there's no telling if it'll stay that way. It's got pretty kickass services though.

Anyway, Fin, either shut up about this or give me good reasons why not to move (there might not be anything wrong with Austnet for you, but there is for others). And if you don't like any of the alternatives given, come up with an alternative yourself instead of just bitching about it.

That is all. For now.

Except for Australians.

See above, also, I don't need an alternative.
