Aside from WoW I mean. No? Probably for the best. Slashdot's in with a grim report from the husks GameSpy's tech devision. If your old games used GameSpy for multiplayer, they might be finished.

Quote:
Over the last month, both game publishers and gaming communities alike were surprised to find their GameSpy multiplayer support suddenly disabled by GLU Mobile, who purchased GameSpy from IGN this August. Many games, including Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Swat 4, Sniper Elite, Hidden and Dangerous 2, Wings of War, Star Wars: Battlefront are no longer able to find (and in some cases even host) multiplayer games.

Seems a bit rotten to me. GLU is only offering to switch services back on to devs who pay up tens of thousands more than they previously had to.

I see this going down the drain very quickly now. I would have thought that IGN selling the division off to GLU would have included some kind of contract to continue services for a reasonable amount of time, but perhaps not.

looks like it's time to develop independent master servers

well independent groups started their own Tribes 2 servers to keep that game alive. Including all the patches to get the game running...actually including the game download as well.

No, but it'd be nice to go back and play some NWN2 multiplayer someday since I bought it twice. Never tried the multi, was it any good?
