Buffy season 8 is up and down but season 9 is quite good so far. Angel season 6 (After the Fall) was only meh for me for the most part but the new series, Angel and Faith is firing on all cylinders.

Never watched Buffy(except the movie, Donald Sutherland and Rutger Hauer are fricken awesome, Luke Perry can screw off though, the girl who played Buffy...she was alright) and I think Firefly was severely over-rated.

Meh, I'm fireproof and can breathe underwater. My head will just regrow(and the head will just grow another body) and I can walk through walls.

I thought Firefly was utter shit. Through various people trying to convince me that "no, it is good, you just have to give it a chance" I've seen about half of the episodes now.

The acting is poor, the plots are weak and none of the episodes really go anywhere - I think Whedon did the same thing with Firefly that JMS did with Crusade* and whoever it was (Espenson?) did with Caprica; they each completed a successful long-form series, and then forgot entirely that in order to tell a big story you also have to get the audience interested in your characters by telling great episodic & character stories in the first season.

Serenity on the other hand, was fucking brilliant. I had to quite literally be dragged to it, as well (but I'm glad I was).

*Rubbish Babylon 5 spinoff 'starring' Edward Woodward's son.

Serenity was actually pretty decent.

Ironically when SGU was made they focused way too much on character stories and almost nothing on plot. It might have worked if not for the fact that most of the characters sucked. I found only Rush and Greer to be of any real interest in the main cast. I actually found Brody who was part of the reoccurring cast to be more interesting and even likable.

Truth. It ends down in a big way, though. What the hell is up with the bullshit, stupidass ending to season 8? Jeebus.

Need to get in on that.

It had so much promise. Really great concept. But the execution was so poor I couldn't finish the first minor arc.

Man, I"m out of touch. First I'm hearing of that. Damn it.

We talk all the time, how do you not know this stuff? I know I talk a LOT so some of this had to spill out of me.

Because we're usually talking about other stuff. Like how Goonies is terrible and you regret ever watching it.

I like how the little oriental lad played almost exactly the same character in Indiana Jones. That was the best bit.

Remembering how Indiana Jones was a better film.
