I have been playing in a bar poker league since 2006, I think. Every other year since 2007, I have qualified for a national poker tournament in Las Vegas. I even took off 14 months from 2011 through 2012 and into part of 2013. I still managed to win my way into the regional tournament on Saturday September 7, where I placed 31 out of 410 people to win my way into the national tournament in Vegas this November (my father placed 11th and offered to pay for the entire trip if we both qualified :grin: ). So from November 4 through November 7 I will be in Sin City yet again, trying desperately to not lose every dollar I have... :worried:

It should be a blast :grin:

That's pretty cool, especially as it's a free trip for you.

If you play well, can you still come home with more money than you left with, even if you don't make it on to a podium?

Yes, there will be cash prizes for the final table of the tournament that I am in. My father and I will both be vying for those prizes :grin:

It was a two day tournament. Tuesday we played from 460 players at noon down to 100. The average chip stack was 92,000 and I only had 61,000 (my father only had 31,000). Day 2 was going to play from 100 at noon down to 24 (where the cash prizes started) and restart at 6:00pm, but I got knocked out before 1:00pm (my father got knocked out ten minutes earlier).
