Certain bushes don't like birds.

"A bird in the bush is worth two in the hand" basically means don't get greedy; or in this case, I guess you could infer it to mean 'the safer option' because you can always go hunting again, and eat the bird you already have.

If you & your family can handle the risk / temporary lack of moneys, go with the risk.

Fuck the bird / hand analogies. You spend most of your time at work, if you can find a job that is awesome, seize it whenever you can.

Heh, you shut me down pretty hard there Dave. I completely agree with you though. If you can afford to take the risk for now, take it, because its not every day you can land an awesome job. They don't come by very often and its important to find joy with your work.

I agree that the awesome job is very much worth waiting for if you can, but what are the time-frames here? A couple of weeks? Six months? A year? If there's sufficient time (i.e. at least six months or so), you could take the average job for a while, then ditch it for the awesome job without looking like a jerk.

Here's the thing. The far-away job could take about a month to resolve, and it involves moving about 500 miles (the awesome one). The not so awesome one could get done in a week at most. The problem is that our quitting money went to solve debts and we're now NINKS (No income, no kids). So it's kind of urgent. Plus I don't think the wife is excited about moving to Mexico City...

Well, the wife's feelings on where you're going will play a big part in what job you take, but that's up to you two to sort out between yourselves.

I'm just throwing ideas out here, but can you take some casual work while you wait? That could give you the money you need while you're waiting for the good stuff without having to sign a more binding contract.

What's the job btw Cookie that has you excited?
