Nothing stopping anyone placing a bucket outside during some downpour. In Darwin I can gather a bucket full in about 3 seconds during a monsoon burst. In Chiquita-Land, I hear, it never rains. So much for that brilliant idea.

I couldn't resist and decided to do a quick calculation.
Given an average yearly rainfall of ~900 mm here in the Netherlands and assuming I would drink about 2 liters a day, I would need to collect all the rain for an area of roughly 2 x 4 meters.
In other words: a bucket really wouldn't suffice for me.
