So, what are your metaphysical beliefs?
Do you believe in God? Or not? WHY?
Are you an idealist, dualist (fuck David Chalmers), or physicalist when it comes to mind?
Is modality primitive?
What about numbers and maths? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?! I NEED AN ANSWER NOW!
Generalised philosowankery encouraged!

I believe in Cookiejesus, and his vicar, Super-Pope.

I didn't have imaginary friends when I was a child, why would I have one now? As for why, there's not a single shred of evidence to suggest that any god ever existed. Most of them were complete assholes anyway so why the hell would you want to believe? Quote: Are you an idealist, dualist (fuck David Chalmers), or physicalist when it comes to mind? Physicalist, I suppose. Quote: Is modality primitive? Yes. But maybe no. Quote: What about numbers and maths? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?! I NEED AN ANSWER NOW! I believe early humans developed numbers so that they could look at each other and say, I have more (thing) than you do. This probably led to vigorous head bashing and poo smearing, not unlike today. Quote: Generalised philosowankery encouraged! What about a more generic kind of wankery? Blanket wankery? Anyway, after 8 or 9 years I still don't know whether quitting smoking was the best or worst thing I ever did.

I'm an atheist who is getting increasingly fucked off by Richard Dawkins preaching about anti-theism, and claiming to represent atheism (being as the whole point of atheism, for me at least, is getting away from preachy arseholes telling me what I - and other people - do and don't believe)
But I totally called him an arsehole on Twitter AND in my blog, so hopefully he'll think twice about doing it again.

I'm a rare breed. I don't have any kind of religious belief, but I'm totally fine with people having their religion, as long as they don't interfere with my life.

Given that three of these options lead to cooked bacon, I'd have to agree.

For a more serious answer to the question: Fin wrote: So, what are your metaphysical beliefs?

Generalised philosowankery encouraged! God: Not really. I believe in something. I guess the closest thing I could describe it as would be karma. I'd like to believe in dualism, but the available evidence points to physicalism. Not entirely sure if I have the prerequisite knowledge of modality to comment on that. Numbers and math have been there since the Big Bang, or even before. There had to be a certain number of somethings to cause that big explosion of matter. Math is the purest way to explain it in terms humans can understand. Just IMO, of course.

So I guess I better put my ideas out there, too.
I don't believe in god, because it's a waste of time (among other things). There's more exciting things to talk about.
Absolutely a physicalist when it comes to mind (hence my generalized irritation with David Chalmers (google him, he's annoying)).
Modality cannot be primitive because were it to be the case that modal properties were instantiated in the world, then the concreteness of the worlds in the many worlds theory would be suspect, which in turn would make the most exciting interpretation of contemporary physics not true. (Excitement is the value we judge by, right?)
Numbers and maths are made up language to describe the world, and are a language game like any other language game. Good in and off itself, but not necessarily connected to the world, except by convention.
GROCERS GONNA GROCE. Shout outs to Gilbert Ryle, my homie.
