2001: Australia, shared 56k connection
2012: Germany, on a wireless repeater with bad reception

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I can game though! And I have some rounds of TF2 with JohnDoe to prove it.

2001: Dial up that claimed 56k but was closer to 26.
2012: Cable so fast it arouses me a little.

*Physically where: Maryland, east coast, US. Currently sober but gimme a few minutes. Also, still oh so pretty.
*Mentally where: Someplace really dirty.
*Emotionally where: See above.
*Gaming where: XBOX 360. Constantly upgrading a PC for gaming got too tedious and expensive for me.
*Personality where: Even more awesome than ever, if that can be believed.

2001: Manchester, 56k dial-up
2012: Manchester, 80Mb fibre-optic DSL

Oh and some other stuff happened in-between like people dying, and my getting a step-son. But that's less nerdy.

(ex-3dap forum mod / sometime contributor for you GSF people thinking "who the fuck are you?", but you shouldn't be because LOOK HOW LONG MY USERNAME WAS.

Truly I was an internet genius when I was 20)

*Oh, the Manchester in England. Not one of the 45 in America.

OK, so I didn't mean to start a trend on people posting their connections... I just recall myself complaining loudly and often as to how slow mine was back in the days of old. Mostly sad about not being able to play Tribes 2 with all the cool people.

I suppose I should elaborate on what I've been up to since 2001. So let's see.

- Finished high school (2003)
- Finished uni (2007, BSc in Computing)
- Got a job (IT, SysAdmin type thing)
- Got a better half (2010)
- Quit job (of 5 years) two months ago to make the big move. Now in Deutschland.
- Got bored with no job, made a forum

I also started my GSF World Tour in 2011 and met up with Chiquita, Taco, Holliday, Sheps and Fin, making up the American and Australian legs of the tour. I expect 2012 and 2013 will feature our next leg: Europe. Be prepared, people!

No kids -> 2 kids

Apartment -> house

Pony tail -> shaved head

Junior developer -> team lead

Epiphone -> Godin

Heckled by writers of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast -> Heckled by James Morrow via Coyote

Occasionally play a coffee house with my band -> play with myself (badum bum--ksshhh!) in my living room, but play shit I wrote

2 cats -> 2 cats (one of the originals is still around), 2 dogs (one farts constantly), 1 guinea pig

Internet stalker -> swapped junk food with JD and Cyrris via the mail system; sexually assaulted fett, Coyote, and Cyrris in person; tried to sexually assault Noq but only got some of my other WoW guildies we both know.

Your format is much better than Cyrris'

-

No kids -> 1 teenager
Girlfriend -> different and much better living-together-type girlfriend
wrote rubbish stuff for 3dap -> wrote something awesome for the Guardian
Mum was alive and a bit annoying -> Mum is annoyingly dead
Thought websites with black backgrounds were the way to go -> realised that was a shit idea, now use pink quite a lot
no consoles -> spend more time on 360 than PC, because of comfy sofa

Man, compared to you guys my life accomplishments for the past eleven years are laaaaame.

Got my BSci in 2001
Got my PhD in microbiology in 2007
Did my postdoc up until a couple months
Just started my Assistant Professor position

Really not much else. Had a two year relationship that failed, still desperately lonely. Got a couple cats (unrelated). Bought my first house when I took the new job. Insanely broke. That's about it. God that's depressing. I think the major highlight during that time was becoming better friends with Taco, Coyote and Noq. I got to hang out with Taco and Coyote. Together. For two days. The level of awesome of that time cannot be expressed in mortal words.

Also, I am long-winded as ever

I am currently a philosophy post-grad at La Trobe in Melbourne. I mark essays with extreme cynicism. I also drink an inordinate amount.

Aside from the job description, not much has changed.
