I've been sort of planning this for a while, but now Microsoft have tipped my hand by announcing their announcement...

... I'll start again.

On 21st May, Microsoft will officially announce their new console.

As of today, my gamerscore stands at 96623. That's far too close to a nice round 100,000 for my liking, so I'm going to break 100k before the new console is announced.

Why? Just because, that's why.

That gives me 27 days to gain 3377 gamerscore; not nightmarishly difficult, but still a bit of a grind.



In order to try and create some meaning from what is ultimately just a meaningless number getting a bit bigger, I'm going to donate £100 to Cancer Research UK if I do it.

Anyone else who'd like to sponsor / encourage me by donating, that would be pretty fucking awesome too.

Not quite.

I'm currently finishing off Hitman: Absolution, because I stopped it part-way through.

Options after that are Deus Ex: HR (which I stopped after the first boss fight), playing X-COM on 'cheating bastard difficulty', Saints Row 3.

Oh and it's my birthday on the 1st so hopefully at least one game in there.

I went with shaving my head (but not tattooing it, I'm not mental) as a forfeit.

Fired up the XBox and decided to check on your progress. 99998. You should go on Twitch and stream the 100k for our amusement. And by "our" I of course mean "my".

Yeah, I not-all-that-accidentally stopped at 99998 (when I saw that I could do so fairly easily), so as the make the last hump a bit more interesting.

Quite chuffed actually, as I was massively behind schedule only a week ago, and I haven't done anything grindy or annoying. Well, except a 'clean hands' (no kills) run of the Dishonored DLC, the last part of which was piss annoying (mostly because I was a bit fed up of the game by then).

Anyway, Livestreaming: good idea, but I don't have the tech to do it

I do however have a camera so I can pseudo-livestream (or 'record', yes, that's the word 'record') my crossing of the finish line, and put it up on the interwebs for posterity.

But as I mention in my blog, I'm looking for ideas on what game (or achievement) to cross the finish line with. I've got a few days, so it can be something really faffy and swear-inducing.

Or maybe just something awesome.

I thought that too, actually. I can only assume his previous voice overs contained more purposeful structure (such as a script), and we're now hearing his day-to-day banter.
