I just recently found out about PS+ and after thinking about it I decided to go to Best Buy and see if I could make a sales associate cry and, as a side mission from that, get a PS3. Long story short, I got the PS3. For a low price. And some free shit. They never see me coming.

Anyway, I get home, attach a hundred cords and fire it up. Instant game library? What is this? HOLY SHIT. Why the hell don't they lead with this information in every single commercial they run? Hey new guy! Download all these free games! Hooray! Seriously, how have I not heard about this before? And they gave away 64 games in the last year? I'd be shouting this info from the rooftops!

Anyway.

I have the XBox up playing Mass Effect 3 (yet again) and every once in a while I switch over to PS3, see my free game has finished and pic another to start. It felt pretty great, I have to say. Some of the games were things that were already on my list of things to get. Best deal I've gotten in a long ass time.

Looks like when I finish ME3 this time I'll be putting some miles on the PS3. I fucking love free stuff...

Make sure you're taking advantage of the unadvertised 'two free games per month' on Xbox Live as well.

1st and 16th of every month, via the 'Games' tab on the dashboard.

It was Fable 3 on the 16th, and it's Defence Grid at the mo'

I was wondering about Defense Grid. Is it, y'know, good?

I found it pretty fun, I got it for the PC a while ago. I don't imagine it would be any different on console.

For a game that cost me $2.50, I think it's given me the most hours of entertainment per dollar of anything I've ever bought.

Yeah, I enjoyed it. It's not massively complicated, but it's got enough to keep me interested (some puzzle games are a bit too meh; it avoids that, I think).

And as it's now free, definitely worth a crack.

Those freebies need gold, I presume...

Yep, it's a "please retain your gold subscription even though we've announced the Xbone" device.

Speaking of freebies, iTunes App Store is giving away "top shelf" apps. Too bad I already paid full price for a couple of them.
