Leave size preferences in the replies. I'd go for at least 100x100.

Do you want bigger avatars?

Highest I am willing to go is 80x80. Need to remember we have people accessing the place from small screens as well as HD ones.

80x80 also conveniently coincides with the set of enhanced ForumPlanet icons I have been working on. Hooray for vectors:

Creativity requires constraints! Say no to huge avatars.

I like 80x80. It's not overwhelming, but I'm not squinting at the screen neither.

(and I don't have to zoom the browser in so much that the TEXT IS ALL UBER)

80x80 seems fine. I think large avatars are just atrocious. Plus you don't need much screen space to represent the middle finger if need be.

Is it really not feasible to have 100x100? The code to scale them down when necessary is so simple...

I want to use my classic set of avatars from the original forums, so no, thanks.

Off-topic: did you know that in latin the plural of forum is fora?

That is an extremely selfish reason. Which I happen to support whole-heartedly.

Did you know that the German plural of "baby" is "babys"?

Thankfully I've been distracted, because I know it's 'kinder'. Like the eggs.

It was, but now it's more commonly applied to toddlers and up. I've been taking some German lessons, and some of the English words they've adopted just have an "s" added to the end of them to pluralise, even if the word ends in 'y'.

I have seen it written as both Babys and Babies over here, but I figured the former would grate you more, which is also more fun.

Chewing gum in French is Chewing Gum. But pronounced by them it's like "shooingum"

Technically they invented my language. They can fuck it up if they like.

(also good to see they've started speaking English, finally, after all that "if we'd lost the war we'd be speaking German" stuff. They lost, and mysteriously carried on speaking German. Bah, that's what I say.)
